Will I still have a place to live?

Currently, students will still reside in their residence halls for the Spring 2021 semester. We are following guidance from Housing and Residence Life. For the most up-to-date information on housing, click here.

Will I still pay the Learning Community fee?

Yes, you will still be responsible for paying the $400/semester Learning Community fee. This will be used to cover operations, supplies, activities and events, and SWAG.

How will Learning Community classes work?

Learning Community classes will be following the same structure as other Georgia Tech classes, adopting a hybrid model of in-person and online instruction, ensuring social distancing guidelines and good hygiene practices are used. We are still working with the registrar’s office to determine what the final schedule of classes will look like, but will update our Course Guide as soon as the information is available.

Will there still be Learning Community programs?

Yes! Learning Community programs and events will be adapted to follow social distancing guidelines and good hygiene practices, based on Georgia Tech’s guidelines for Campus Events. This will likely include a mixture of in-person and virtual events, and will vary by each Learning Community.

Am I still able to use Learning Community communal spaces like classrooms and lounges in residence halls?

Yes, community spaces like classrooms and residence hall lounges will remain open, with student health and safety as a top priority. Learning Communities will be following Georgia Tech’s guidance on space management, which includes higher frequency cleaning. Shared personal appliances like coffee makers and video game consoles may be removed from these lounges to reduce transfer risks.

Can I still use Learning Community-specific resources, like tutoring or faculty coffee hours?

Yes! These resources will be adapted to match Georgia Tech guidelines for Campus Events. This will likely include a combination of in-person and virtual programs and activities, but will vary for each Learning Community.
